It’s all about perception for The Spectacles. While Nashville, Tennessee is known worldwide as Music City USA, it is predominately famous, of course for its country music. However, only in a city which attracts the diversity of talent and the skilled musicians which serve as the city’s namesake, could a band such as The Spectacles come into focus.

The Spectacles include band members and longtime musical friends Glen Miles, Doug Hall, Chad Selby, Craig DeLoach and David Knight.

Named Alabama State Junior Banjo Champion of 1985, Glen Miles first played bluegrass with his brother on TV as a member of the Grand Youth Opry out of Memphis, TN, at age 14. He went on to open for acts like Charlie Daniels, Dwight Yoakum, Loretta Lynn, Steve Wariner, Tammy Wynette and Sylvia, among others, as a vocalist and lead guitarist with a pop country band playing many venues around the US. Switching gears to rock and roll in the early 90’s, Miles played lead guitar and was a vocalist for one of the local favorites on the rock scene, Bazooka Joe, who opened for nationally signed acts like Jackyl and The Screamin’ Cheetah Wheelies. Working with Bazooka Joe was the beginning of the lifelong friendship and collaboration with Doug Hall, another founding member of the band. Glen Miles

Before Bazooka Joe, Doug Hall began playing trumpet and horns while still in grammar school growing up in Cookeville, TN. He earned 1st Chair in the trumpet section of the Nashville Youth Symphony and has an extensive collection of medals for his big band achievements. Moving into the rock scene Doug began playing guitar and bass and worked with several original and cover bands on the local rock scenes in Cookeville and Nashville. Doug also furthered his musical talents by attending Full Sail Recording School in Florida prior to moving to Nashville and founding Round One Studios, which begat the band Bazooka Joe. Doug Hall

Growing up in Cookeville, TN, Chad Selby started playing guitar while in junior high school and worked with several rock and blues bands there locally. Moving to Nashville in the late 80’s, Selby played lead guitar professionally with a popular rock cover band, Roxx, touring the East Coast from Miami to New York and opening for such national acts as Brittney Fox and Warrant. Coming off the road in the early 90’s, Chad played lead and slide guitar with a founding member of the signed act Every Mother’s Nightmare, and continued his long time musical relationship with Craig DeLoach to form an all original band called The Sons of Oedipus, who played the local original rock scene many times on the same bill with Bazooka Joe. Also from Cookeville, TN, Craig DeLoach began teaching himself to play drums in his pre-teen years and played in various cover bands. He later played professionally touring the US, Canada and Alaska while playing in a rock and blues cover band. Moving to Nashville in the late 80’s, Craig honed his vocal and drumming style and was the backbone of several popular bands playing the rock & top-40-rock local club scene and the college frat circuit. Craig continued his musical journey working with long-time friend Chad Selby and playing the local rock scene as a primary vocalist and the skins man for The Sons of Oedipus. Craig DeLoach

A classically trained cellist and bassist, David Knight, played for over 15 years on the Richmond, VA, music scene along with guys like the Wooten brothers, and even helped put himself through college playing bass for a locally popular R&B cover band. Moving to Nashville in the late 80’s, Knight soon found himself as a fixture playing both electric and acoustic upright bass for writers’ nights and with many noted Bluegrass outfits, such as Grand Ole Opry regulars, Mixt Company, and was a founding member along with Glen Miles of Blue Celtic Grass, a Scottish-Celtic style bluegrass band.
